Training at Northern Colorado Fencers (NCF Boulder)
NCF Boulder offers structured, coach-led fencing programs for youth, teens, and adults, from first-time beginners to long-term athletes, along with specialty programs and seasonal camps.
All programs are designed to support safety, consistency, and long-term development. Placement and progression are coach-directed and based on readiness, not age, tenure, or comparison.
Getting Started
Free Trial Lesson
Cost: Free
All new fencers begin with a Free Trial Lesson.
This introductory session allows participants to experience fencing in a real training environment, meet our coaches, and receive a recommendation for next steps.
Intro to Fencing
(Six-Session Placement & Orientation Program)
Cost: $180
Includes: 6 coached sessions
Intro to Fencing is a short, structured program for students who benefit from more than a single trial session before joining an ongoing training group.
Across six sessions, fencers are introduced to fundamental skills and routines while coaches observe learning patterns, consistency, and readiness. The goal is accurate placement and a smooth transition into the appropriate ongoing program.
Youth Programs (Ages 7–13)
Learn to Fence
Cost: $160 per month
Training: 1 coached group session per week
Learn to Fence is the foundational ongoing program for youth fencers ready for regular, coach-led group training.
This program focuses on building comfort, consistency, basic skills, and training habits within a structured environment. There is no fixed length; athletes remain in Learn to Fence until coaches determine readiness for a different training environment.
Youth Development Programs
Youth Development programs are for fencers ready for increased training structure, consistency, and volume. Programs are organized by readiness rather than age alone.
Lessons are the primary setting for skill development, while group classes focus on applying those skills in a fencing environment. Some programs include access to additional Saturday training opportunities as scheduled.
